Iguana island is considered the jewel of Pedasi for many reasons. To begin with, it is a 58-hectares wildlife reserve located at the Southeast of Azuero Peninsula, under the administration of the Ministry of Environment. The coral reef there represents 15-hectares, where people can enjoy snorkelling and scuba-diving. In addition, its wildlife includes local and migratory birds, black iguanas, hermit snails among others.

You can do several activities at this reserve. Thanks to the beauty of the white sand beaches and crystalline water, several family activities can be carried out at the shore. Some of them include swimming, picnic, sun tanning, beach football and many more. In fact, the most popular activities are whale watching and fishing in the nearby areas. Iguana island, for the people of Pedasi, represents more than just a place for hanging out.
 This place has become part of their culture and the nice weather besides of the cozy town of Pedasi have attracted many foreign visitors who have established there and become part of its identity. In addition, this is a traditional place for fishermen, so they make their living about fishing and tourism. Finally, it provides a special place to study environment where many students and researchers visit the place to do their scientific work. So, there can’t be any doubt that Iguana island is the jewel of Pedasi.
